Worried About Your Pregnancy? You Need a Baby Heart Rate Monitor
Doppler baby heartrate monitors are the latest new devices for moms-to-be. They let you hear your baby’s heartbeat when you are around 10 weeks pregnant. You can listen at home, anytime you want when you rent or buy a fetal monitor for home use. You’ll feel closer to your baby and be assured that he is okay.
Doppler baby heartrate monitors use the same technology as the Doppler monitors that hospitals and doctors use. This is not a simple amplification of sound. The device uses Doppler waves which are ultrasonic sound waves, so it is ultra sensitive.
Doppler technology has been used in medical facilities for over thirty years and is considered to be safe even for continuous use. Doppler baby heartrate monitors are regulated by the FDA to ensure their safety.
You’ll find that Doppler baby heartrate monitors are easy to use once you get used to locating your baby. You can begin listening for a heartbeat when you are in your tenth week. It may take until your fourteenth week for you to hear a heartbeat though if you are overweight. A tipped uterus may make it more difficult to pick up a heartbeat until your baby is bigger.
Doppler baby heartrate monitors require gel in order to work. You simply squirt a small amount of the gel onto your abdomen, place the probe on top, and then slide the probe around your belly in search of a heartbeat.
There are gels created specifically for use with Doppler baby heartrate monitors but you don’t have to buy those. Most other types of gels, like KY Jelly, and even some lotions will work just as well.
To use your Doppler baby heartrate monitor, apply the gel to your skin and press the probe into it. Try to push out air bubbles so you won’t hear them crackle as you move the probe around. The end of the probe needs to be completely covered in gel to work properly.
It can be hard to locate your baby’s heartbeat early in your pregnancy but as your baby grows larger, it will get easier. If you are expecting twins, you will be able to hear both heartbeats on your Doppler baby heartrate monitor. With practice you will learn how to separate the two sounds.
To search for your baby’s heartbeat, move the probe over your stomach in the area under your belly button. Move it slowly so you don’t glide over the spot you are looking for. Slant the probe a little so the Doppler waves are spread out over a larger area of your skin. This will let you search a wider area of your stomach than you would if you held the probe straight down.
You can choose between different types of fetal heart rate monitors. The standard unit picks up the sound of your baby’s heartbeat which you hear as a whooshing sound through the speaker. The display unit has an added feature that will display your baby’s heartrate as a digital readout.
Today you can take advantage of an opportunity that soon-to-be moms never had before. In the past, if the baby needed to have a heartrate check, it meant a visit to the hospital or doctor’s office. Now you can do it at home by yourself if you have a Doppler baby heartrate monitor.
If you are having a problem pregnancy, then Doppler baby heartrate monitors are very useful in tracking the health of your baby and giving you peace of mind. They are great for healthy pregnancies too. They provide you with the joy of listening to your baby’s heartbeat as he grows. They may even help prevent sibling rivalry if your other children can listen in and bond with the baby before he is born.
